Last Day in London.

The pathetic fallacy right now is ridiculous. It is pouring rain outside and the grey, waterlogged streets completely reflect my feelings on having to leave London.

It's been an amazing trip. This morning started out like the others, breakfast at half nine and then we prepared to leave for the day. Because it was Sunday we headed off to mass. Unfortunately Mum got the idea in her head that she wanted to go to a Latin Mass today. Now, don't get me wrong, I actually really liked the singing by the choir, it was beautiful and I do think that the solemn celebrations add to the importance of the whole thing, but we weren't exactly prepared for the length of the thing. Seriously, there's only so much kneeling and standing in a different language that one can handle. Still, it was an experience and I'm glad that I went.

After our Latin adventure, we made our way a little further down the road to Harrods, the giant, luxury department store in Knightsbridge. Harrods is always an interesting place to be, even when you don't buy anything. My favourite part came just as we were taking the escalators downstairs. Thinking that the opera music playing in the background was lovely, I was humming along to it under my breath. It was only when my parents turned to me and told me to look up that I realised that the singing was actually coming from a woman perched on a balcony overlooking the escalators. Wouldn't that be a fabulous job?!

Once we left we stopped at a cafe for a little bit of lunch/cakes and by the time we were done, the rain had hit. We dashed across the road into one of the cute London taxis and arrived a little damp at our hotel.

Now, we're just waiting for our taxi to arrive and take us to the airport. We have a tiny bit of downtime so we're just hanging about the lounge and I thought, what better time to do BEDA today? I have lots of exciting things to get working on at home but I'm still not thrilled about going back. One good thing is that Kathy is coming over tomorrow after work and Orla, who has been adventuring off in Canada for the summer, will arrive home tomorrow too. That's the good thing about August, no matter where everyone has been off adventuring for the summer, they all have to come home at some point.

Until tomorrow,
Love,
Shauna
